A little catch-up

For Thanksgiving, we spent the day at MiMi and Pops' house with Uncle Drew too. It was a beautiful day, so Jeremy spent the day playing with Christian's old toys (MiMi saved them all these years!) and running around outside. Pops recently had surgery on his foot, so he wasn't as ambulatory as usual. But Jeremy still squirmed into his lap and enjoyed listening to Pops read him books. We had a very nice meal--Jeremy tried all kinds of new foods--and really enjoyed spending time with each other.

To kick off the holiday season, we went to see the Holiday Train--in the rain. Jeremy is hyper-focused on trains right now, so even though it was raining, we bundled up and went to see the train. CalTrain (the commuter train) came into the Mountain View station fully lit in lights, carolers sang songs, Santa visited with the kids, and snow swirled around.

Holiday Train to collect toys for kids in need.
We spent a day up at the Cal Academy of Sciences (my favorite place in SF) and got to see reindeer! Apparently reindeer are actually caribou, and legends say that they appeared to be flying as they glided over the snow.
Squishing bugs--not exactly the intention of the exhibit, but he had fun.

Contemplating the penguins

It's snowing!
On December 13, we closed on our new house! We are so excited, because the house is right around the corner from where we currently live. We get to stay in this neighborhood that we know and love so much! Christian is still about 3.5 miles to work, and I could still walk to the school that I taught at (if I ever go back to work...) From our new house, we will be about a block from two different parks, and we are able to walk to Downtown Mountain View as well as the grocery store. It really is an ideal location! But...it does need a lot of work. Like a blue toilet and teal countertops kind of work. But it is ours, and we are so excited to spread out in the new home.(The best part about fixer-uppers is that we will have some great before-and-after pictures to post soon!)

While we were signing papers, MiMi played with Jeremy. Afterward, we all went to a really nice Bethlehem Walk. We were able to walk through Bethlehem and learn all about life at that time. They acted out the Christmas story as well, complete with camels, donkeys, dancers, fire, and music. It was really cold, but Jeremy was really into it!

Making bricks out of mud to build a well in Bethlehem.

Stamping clay that they fired in the fire.

And we can always have some Christmas fun at home :)
